Hadrah is one of Indonesian art culture. It is an identity of two cultures those are ethnic and religion. This art is performed in special ceremonies. The purpose of the performance is that to thank to God as He gives all the things to the humans in this world.
Hadrah usually used in Islamic wedding ceremony. It is played as the background music when the bride entrance to the location and as a welcome music for the guest who come to the ceremony. It is played together with a stanza of lyric. The lyric is simple but it has deep meaning as the praise to God. “Maula ya maula, Maula Allah. Allahu Allah”.
Hadrah is played by some single boys and each player holds kompang. After the song is over, the next performance is ‘pencak silat’. It is tradional martial art. One of the Hadrah players has to be able to do pencak silat because if there is no volunteer to fight with the pencak silat player, the player should replace. After the ceremony has been ended, each of the players will get a prize from the people who invite them. The prize is egg flower. It is a boiled egg with paper flower on the egg.
